The Super Heroes Awards program honors innovators that are pushing green building towards a sustainable future. This year’s awards will be given for Outstanding Green Portfolio, Outstanding Community Organization, David Gottfried Special Achievement, and an additional award to be announced.
The Outstanding Green Portfolio Award honors a company or organization whose portfolio of owned, operated and/or occupied real estate space demonstrates exceptional leadership and innovation in the adoption of green building standards and practices. We have an impressive group of finalists in this category:
- The City and County of San Francisco
- Google, Inc.
- Hines.
The Outstanding Community Organization award honors a non-profit organization that has demonstrated a profound impact on their community through their commitment to sustainability and social equity. The finalists in this category have done extraordinary community service work, and are:
- First Community Housing, Inc.
- Urban Solutions.
The David Gottfried Special Achievement Award will go to Kevin Hydes, President and CEO of Integral Group, and Board Member of USGBC-NCC. He has spent over 15 years focusing on green design and his sustainable vision has led to the LEED certification of dozens of projects. Over the past decade he has gained a reputation as an innovator, pioneer, and green business leader, creating transformative strategies as former President and CEO of Keen Engineering, former Vice President of Stantec, and in his current leadership at Integral Group. Kevin was a founder of the Northern California Chapter of USGBC, and is a former Chair of both the USGBC and the World Green Building Council. We have been fortunate to have his involvement in the Northern California Chapter since its inception, and look forward to honoring him with this well-deserved award.
Stay tuned for an announcement of another special awardee.
In addition to recognizing our award finalists, attendees will also hear from Rick Fedrizzi, USGBC President, CEO, and Founding Chairman. Under Rick’s leadership, USGBC has undertaken a far-reaching agenda that has tripled its membership, broadened its influence, and cemented its role as a leadership voice in the global sustainability movement. Other top USGBC Executives will be attending, including Scot Horst, Sr. VP, LEED; Mahesh Ramanujam, COO; and Kimberly Lewis, Sr. VP, Volunteer Alliances, Conferences and Events.
This exciting event is USGBC-NCC’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds will go to support USGBC-NCC in its efforts to promote sustainable and socially responsible building practices through education, advocacy, motivation, and an impressive network of members.
